Configure Key Pairs and Certificates for the Member heading-link-icon

This section describes how to configure key pairs and certificates for members. It contains the following:

  1. Generate a Session Initiation Key Pair
  2. Generate a Ledger Key Pair
  3. Generate a TLS Key Pair
  4. Disable Revocation Checks

To assign a soft hardware security module (HSM) and generate a session initiation key The key for a virtual node, which is published in the `MemberInfo`, and used by Link Managers to authenticate and establish secure messaging sessions between network members. pair:

To assign a soft hardware security module (HSM) and generate a ledger key A key which can be used to sign for transactions. This key may be held confidentially and signatures may be used as evidence of authority to sign transactions.   2. Create a certificate for the TLS key pair by running the following command to generate a CSR Certificate Signing Request. This is a specially formatted encrypted message sent from a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) digital certificate applicant to a certificate authority (CA). The CSR validates the information the CA requires to issue a certificate. :

  3. Provide the chosen CA with this CSR and request for certificate issuance.

  4. To upload the certificate chain to the Corda cluster, run this command, where <certificate-folder> is the path to the folder in which you saved the certificate received from the CA:

    You can optionally omit the root certificate. If revocation is enabled and the root certificate does not have a CRL or OSCP endpoint, you must omit the root certificate.

If the CA has not been configured with revocation (for example, via CRL or OCSP), you can disable revocation checks In the context of X.509 certificates, revocation checks refer to the process of verifying if a digital certificate is still valid and has not been revoked by the issuing Certificate Authority (CA). .

By default, revocation checks are enabled. You only need to disable revocation checks once per cluster.

If using Bash, to disable revocation checks, do the following:

  1. Retrieve the current gateway configuration version:

  2. Save the displayed version number from the response as a variable:
